For those about to rock ... we salute you!

When the music festival was first proposed, it was important to include the whole town rather than have just one venue for music. Having had talks with all the pubs and clubs, I received quite a favourable response. It was then proposed that each pub would follow a theme or style of music throughout the whole event. This worked so well last year that again the pubs have come up trumps to follow suit. This year however, there will be much more live music with artists going straight from the Town Hall to carry on gigging on the festival's 'extra' stages in the pubs. This has become integral to the continuity of the festival particularly for Sunday. We cannot use the Town Hall for anything on Sundays (ancient Welsh law?) so the action shifts to your favorite haunts!

It is with great pleasure therefore to officially acknowledge and welcome on-board the pubs of Welshpool, courtesy of some very generous Landlords and Ladies. Bands which they may book themselves plus acts from the main stages will be performing throughout the day on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. Although they are themed to a certain style of music, they are still open to playing other diverse sounds. Some may be holding karaokes, open-mics or live DJ sets. Please see their individual links to see itineraries. We will try to keep you updated via this page as to who's playing where and at what times during the festival and throughout the year ahead.

If you are a musician or band that missed out on playing in the Town Hall, please contact me here, or you can contact the pubs direct to see if they can fit you in. If you would like any further information on anything on this page, I would be happy to hear from you.

Corn Exchange
Times and Acts are subject to change at short notice
The Corn ExchangeA corn exchange was a building where farmers and merchants traded cereal grains. Such trade was common in towns and cities of the Great Britain and Ireland until the 19th century, but as the trade became centralised in the 20th century many such buildings were used for other purposes. Several have since become listed buildings. Yes they changed the nature of their business over the years. Who would of thought that all these years later the Corn Exchange would yet again play a major roll in Welshpool. The priceless comodity that it now exchanges is totally unique and invigerates the soul to the core This second stage is hosting some excellent musicians, please, check them out, then come see them 'live' Saturday 29th May 2010Monday 31st May 2010

Main Stage (Town Hall)
Times and Acts are subject to change at short notice
Main Stage (Town Hall)Welshpool Town Hall dominates the townscape of the border town of Welshpool and is arguably the most prominent building in the town. The impressive clock tower houses the Town Clock which is still hand wound to this day. The Town Hall was built around 1804 after its predecessor was considered too small and demolished. It has a stone faced facade with an impressive entrance leading to a first floor that houses the old courtroom, council chamber and assembly room. This building was completed in 1804 and was later enlarged in 1836. But even the enlarged building was thought to be too small, so it was replaced by the present Town Hall in 1873.And so it stayed for 200 years in relative silence until 2009 when it's walls were shaken with the very first Welshpool Music Festival. Now into our second year just take a look at this impressive lineupSaturday May 29thMonday May 31st...more TBA
