Music festival fever to hit Welshpool

TUNES for all tastes will be filling Welshpool over the Spring Bank Holiday as the Celebration of Music Festival returns to the town.

Organiser Welshpool Town Council intends to build on the success of last year’s inaugural event, Three days of audio and visual entertainment will be staged between Friday 28th and Monday 31st May, with a wide variety of musical talent showcased in the town.

A number of acts have already been confirmed for the Festival, which will kick off on Friday night in the Town Hall with an Abba and Grease Tribute Evening. Top Abba Tribute band Planet Abba will be performing with their phenomenal stage show. The band has gained a huge following both in the UK and increasingly internationally, with a string of sell-out shows. Greased Up is a colourful celebration of the hit stage show Grease, featuring full-on high-energy dance routines and slick costume changes, while audience participation is
very much encouraged.

From 11.30 am on both Saturday and Monday two stages at the Town Hall Assembly Room and the Corn Exchange will play host to a wide range of musicians and bands including many highly talented performers drawn from the local area.

Bands already confirmed to play at the Festival include headline act Colour Sunday, The Glassguns, Lipshock and Organised Chaos.

Solo performers already signed up include Celtic songstress Beck Sian, Luke Day, Rob Dunsford, Jack Taylor, Craig Bradbury and Keith Fabrique.

Other venues throughout the town will also be adding to the musical flavour, particularly Moltos Nightclub in Berriew Street which from 7pm on Sunday night will be staging an evening of wide-ranging entertainment.
