Gungrog (pronounced Gun-Grog), near Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, formerly spelt Gwngrog. According to an excellent Welsh authority, Gwngrog is an abbreviation of Gwaun-y-Grog, meaning “the meadow of the gibbet”.
